Susan Wolf
I migrated to the Bay Area from the Chicago Area in1981. Through
the 80’s I was entranced with the nocturnal sub-culture
found at the SF flower market and the activities that followed
certain purchases; buying fleeting beautiful moments to share
in ways that strayed from the conventional bouquet.
In 2003 I returned to the practice of drawing and making art regularly.
I make tactile mixed media drawings in journals to establish a
basic vocabulary of imagery to again re-work and organize into
second and third generations of projects utilizing digital processing
and other image transfer techniques including photo etching and
chine-colle. Although my work is primarily 2-D I am currently
generating some site specific projects that speak to our cultures
inadequate attempts to meet the basic needs of people.
Currently an Artist in Residence at Kala Art Institute
in Berkeley, Ca. I am exploring newly learned techniques while
enjoying the resources and community of an established printmaking
studio. |
