A more recent, ongoing project focus began in 2021 after reading an Ursula Le Guinn essay, The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction. Found amongst a series of containers being prototyped are wallets, baskets, pinch pots and pouches. Several years of Monoprints investigate the materiality of paper, plastic and woven bags. The work searches for the poetic energy held by static objects and wonders about the things being valued and carried.
A set of conversational prompts held within their cavities or pockets travels beyond the walls of the studio, making a broader web of narrative connections. Prompts invite reflection and dialogue about the cultural, emotional and physical weight of the ideas and objects being carried.
